I may be talking jargon , but there has to be a clear understanding of good and evil.

 In order to bypass it if a true Alien Intelligence far more advanced seeks communication.

I do not expect they will listen to the species' problems and like so many in this jungle most likely should they interfere it will be for their benefit mostly long term so they will not have to interfere again.

And after this Dark Ages or WWIV they may be called gods as well.
