Unless a Miracle occurs Russia can not currently observe equally an encounter with a large force like the one of NATO CHINA or even Kazakhstan or Iran to an extend.

 They count on their vast geography and unholy alliances internally to keep the peace , corruption is all over the place , depression is all over demographics will be going down , they will have to outsource whatever they pick up as a high tech treat and share it with their pals to keep afloat.

NATO is an easy target , they may use nuclear weapons if what they suffer now as an infamy militarily becomes to them clearly a military defeat devastating.
